A Little Knowledge

Tal

I’ve been traveling a bit lately, and as a result have consumed about six months’ worth of public radio podcasts, listening to them relentlessly on planes, and in cars, and in the dead zones one finds oneself in when in-between methods of transportation.

Anyway, most of you know I love This American Life, but a single bit — one isolated and brief segment — of one of the TAL podcasts I recently listened to has kind of stuck in my brain and won’t let my consciousness go.

This is that podcast.

It’s really just the first few minutes of the podcast — you need not listen to the whole thing. By the time you hit four minutes in the section I’m talking about will be over. But it’s important you hear it. Why? Because it’s true, and it’ll change your life, my friend.

Enjoy.

PS: I get the first issue of my lifetime subscription this week. Yeah, you heard me: lifetime subscription. Because really, who am I kidding?

    Lifetime? LIFETIME? Say it isn't so. This American life, however, is a whole different story. ;-)

    Please.
    Mothers = know-it-alls.
    Mother + teacher = holding forth on topics I SHOULD know lots about so the parents don't think I'm stupid but mostly I've forgotten or just read an abstract and thought that was enough.
    Remember this at open house, people.
