My daughter, connoisseur of cute

From an early age Jamie and I have exposed M to a ton of Japanese animation, and as a result it’s become something akin to her primary aesthetic (Hayao Miyazaki, anyone?). So I wasn’t really surprised when she called me over to her computer yesterday to show me the following video she’d discovered on Cute Overload (she spends ridiculous amounts of time poring over that site) (primarily because I’m a horrible, neglectful parent) (hey that wine isn’t going to drink itself), which launched her into peals of joyous squealing:

Yet another reason for the U.S. to feel threatened by the nation of Japan: they have the technology and know-how to make even the lowly legume irresistibly adorable. JAPAN FTW!1!!!

. . . . .
PS: I don’t promote it nearly enough, but oh god, if you aren’t reading/subscribed to/obsessing over MamaPop, well, I just don’t know what to say. Some of the finest writers on the web producing super smart(-ass) posts every got-damn day about Pop Culture and its victims. You need MamaPop in your life, people. Trust me on this.

Here’s my most recent MamaPop post,
Thomas Kincade’s "The Christmas Cottage" & The Manifesto Of Suckitude.

Oh how I wish I knew Japanese! I want to know what that little bean (pea?) is saying.

I found it cute- but rather…morbid?
What is the bean saying? Pleading for it's little life? And what's with the dark shadow? (shudder).
But I did like that the first bean was a Natto bean (ewww) and was appropriately slimy.
