a hard (see: irritating) lesson.

learned from recent experience working on that rock-n-romp thing i keep bringing up:

musicians are NOT definitive, decisive people.

and there are a few fairly, i dunno, renowned people that i'm dealing with here. one doesn't wanna hassle them but, you know, i gots to fill dem dates, spanky. i mean, think of the children.

and so i

think if i hauled out the drugs and groupies people would move faster? heh.

Drugs?! Groupies?! Hell, I'll play for the little snots. Where do I sign up???

from my experiance, you just make decisions, and say something like this, "so I have a date for you, i need to know asap if it works for you"

and be done w/ it...

muscians and artists were a bunch of individuals who swear by our independence, but are desperate for some one to lead us.

didn't you think booking bands would be an easy enough job?? heh.

it'll all turn out fine, dude. just keep putting on the pressure. i've been pretty lucky with conscientious musicians, but i did have some crazy flakiness going on last year. i think a lot of bands have a hard time planning in advance.

yeah, no kidding.

i think in some cases (and maybe i'm projecting here) they're not sure if this is going to be something cool to be involved with or something potentially embarrassing and retarded.

on the one hand, they don't know me, so i can understand the apprehension, but on the other hand, BAH!

nah... see all bands are like this reguardless of what the show is... bands tend to work better on their terms, picking when they want to play... but if you come to them... sadly its a much harder job to nail them down.

at ccas its super easy to get the touring bands, well because they neeeeed the show... but getting local bands nailed down to something is a bit harder.

Drugs?! Groupies?!

HEY! Can we still get in on that even if we've confirmed the date we're playing (I hope with a minimal amount of waffling)?

i wish i knew where to look and see what touring bands are playing those weekends in baltimore. cuz dude, if they're good, out-of-towners are welcome.

and lisa, you guys are great. by far the most decisive and supportive band i've dealt with. YOU WIN!!!!

wouldn't that be awesome to snag someone on tour?? hmm, i hadn't even considered that possibility....

as for the idea that bands see RnR as potentially embarrassing, i'd say no. good bands want to play, and odds are the bands you are talking to have never played this kind of show. something new! not the same old club! not the same old audience! seriously, soon you will have bands you've never heard of asking you to play. just wait.

ps--i decided to give ian one more chance. heh.
