hardware.
those of you who've been following this blog (and, before that, my journal over at livejournal) know i've had some serious hardware issues over the past year. well, last night, my ibook died. AGAIN. i know -- can you believe it? i actually wept, such was my frustration. so we finally decided that -- having sent the thing back to apple to be “fixed” 4 times now -- this particular ibook was no more. i can't lose all my data YET AGAIN without undergoing some sort of psychological break.
so let me introduce my (new) wittle friend.
two awesome things about this: i added on an extra 512K of ram; it comes with ilife 05 (GARAGEBAND!!!).
[insert geek happy dance]
so anybody wanna buy a kinda fucked up but fixable g3 ibook?
edit: if anyone *is* actually interested in the G3: i can send it back to apple to have them fix it again (i just did this recently, so its still under warranty for that) before selling it; i'd still sell it at a much reduced used price (i could get it fixed and sell it on ebay for a good chunk, but i'd rather help a fellow blogger out). /end sales pitch

I might know someone. I'll send him your way.

like, free?

err, no, unfortunately not free, but at a super-reduced cost, even for a used one. i'd just give it away, but if i can i need to defray some of the costs of the new one...

What kind of price are we talking about? I'm in the market for a laptop just for possible music stuff, possibly.
So you're in the G4 posse now, eh? Congratulations!

joel: i dunno $-wise...maybe like $300? i looked on ebay and they're going for anywhere from 450-650 depending on what they're equipped with.
ps: whether you get the g3 or not it goes without saying that you can borrow my ilife disk for the purposes of getting garageband...

Ok, again, the separated at birth thing comes in to pay just one more time. After dropping my 12" Power Book a gazillion times, cracking the keyboard and the screen accompanied with serious hard drive issues, guess what Dave bought me for Christmas? That's right, a G4 Powerbook and I love love love love it! I am very happy for you. Congratulations!
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but I really think you should put it up on eBay? I should tell you what I got for my completely fucked-up Powerbook. And we were honest about all the flaws to boot. Get it? Boot? (Ok, I will crawl back in my hole now. I know how lame I am with my boot/computer joke.)

I would be interested in buying it, if you can send it back and get it fixed :)
This would start my love affair with anything apple b/c im a windows user.
So if you wanna give me more of a discount to convert me i'd be willing to take that too..teeheehee.

You do know that there are some people who are actually electrically charged, on a subatomic level, in such a way that they continually break technology. This is a scientific fact.
I am such a person myself so I feel your pain. 4 laptops in 1 year, baby!

I'd have to second the "if you get it fixed, I'm interested" posse (I'm the someone XLT warned you about.) So put me on the list behind the other folks...
