On raising a girl update

  • This morning, in the car on the way to school, I was treated to her trilling rendition of “I Love Being A Princess”.
  • She only wants to wear “pretty dresses”.
  • She wants her toenails painted. Daily.
  • She insists on ponytail holders with sparkly baubles attached to them.
  • This is the look we get when her demands are not met:

Yikes! She looks like she should be coming out of a corn field, slowly advancing toward her next victim. She's lovely, but deadly.

yep just give her the sparkles... otherwise your life will be miserable!

Ah the joys of a rebellious childhood!

gulp...hold me.....(I have an 18 month old diva in training myself)

I quite like that picture, actually. So much personality there. It's a keeper. She's a keeper.

i like to look at that picture and imagine lazers shooting out of her eyesockets... WHICH IS HOW IT FEELS.

Just remember, you're the mom, so you're the boss.

And tying her up in the basement is illegal or something. ;)

Priceless photo. That look might be worth more than a thousand words.

So....where should I send her pony? I'm weak against her powers!

Hold on, hon! I'm sending stickers just as fast as I can!

amanda: more stickers... AND YOUR SOUL!

Yep, yep, I'm right there with ya. I was just informed by my Princess Of Everything that she wants to be "stylishing" now. Which seems to involve many pairs of multicolored tights and a different kind of pony tail every day. Hang in there - you're not alone!

She certainly has mastered the pouting!

Now put down the camera and get to sparkling.

Ugh... I'm in the same boat with Birdgal. I've got a 19 month old girl and I'm TERRIFIED of what the future holds!

But, you have to admit, her look in that picture is PRICELESS! That's what her husband will see many years from now when he tells her she has too many shoes...

I did all that stuff too- the pink dresses, the ponytail holders with pink and purple and sparkles, the princess and stuff.

Now I wear mostly black and hate "pretty dresses" and ponytails, although I still like my toenails painted and sparkles (now in jewelry form).
