Baltimore, I love you, hon
As you doubtless know by now, I love my hometown of Baltimore -- aka Charm City, aka Harm City, aka The City That Reads, aka Bodymore, Murderland (and so on, and so forth, yada) -- so in honor of my fair city's greatness, I'm giving away a copy of the new Ace Of Cakes book!
Based on the TV show based on the Baltimore institution (have you seen the cake they did for my 35th birthday? How sick is that, right? H1N1 SICK, THAT'S HOW SICK), the book is a hugely awesome 320 page tour of the world of Charm City Cakes, complete with a ton of gorgeous photos of their incredible cake creations over the years. Suitable for gift-giving or just general slobbering. Seriously though, it's pretty rad.
So leave a comment on this here post, and in one week (on Tuesday, 11/17) I'll pick someone at random to get the book. Word? Word.
. . . . .
In other Baltimore-related news, I'm co-hosting a local tweetup with the fabulous Justin Kownacki one week from tomorrow, Wednesday, November 18th at The Brewer's Art, 7pm-9pm (and beyond!). If you're local(ish) and can be there, give a shout over at the event page on Facebook, and let us know you can come. All are welcome, so bloggers, twitterers, and all you other social media nerds, c'mon down!
...And with this, I've achieved a whole new level of Massive Internet Geekitude. Yay me! (For the record I hate the term "tweetup" just about as much as I hate "tweeps" -- which is a whole helluva a lot, BELIEVE ME. But as they say, when in Rome use the terminology bandied about by the dork majority and try really really hard not to snort-laugh in their faces. That IS what they say, right? heh.)

Oh, I'd love this! Also, was the cake good? I mean, obviously they look incredible but how do they taste? I've always wondered.

No way! I LOVE Ace of Cakes and only wish they'd been there when I lived in Frederick, MD. Pick me Sweetney!

I love Ace of Cakes and in my next life I totally want to work for Duff! And since your giving away the book on my birthday I am the obvious choice to win the book. ;)

I have a crush on every single Charm City Cakes employee. This book was one of the first things I put on this year's Christmas list. (Yeah. Um, I still make a list.)
Excellent choice to give away. (I hope you kept one for yourself.)

I was so hoping to be able to make it to Atomic Books for the book signing a week or so ago and just couldn't get there! So this would be a great runner up :)

Commenting on behalf of a certain 10 year old boy who LOVES Ace of Cakes, so much so, he has made several cakes from scratch and is now enrolled in cake decorating classes. :D

We just found this show, LOVE IT! These people are SO amazingly creative. Hmmm... wonder if having the book would convey some of that creativity to me. Let's test the theory, shall we??? ;-)

Charm City Cakes did a bust of Poe for a celebration here in Richmond this year. It was wicked sick.

How freakin' cool is it you got a cake from Charm City? I've always been curious...how is the cake itself? Tasty?

I love cake. I love Duff. I imagine I'd love Duff's cakes.

Just watched the show tonight with the kiddo and there was a Duff spot for the book. The boy said 'Wow, I bet that's cool. You could get ideas for my birthday!' And then I read your post. So winning would be awesome, but at the same time might set some awfully unrealistic expectations for his upcoming cake! Still, winning would be awesome!

Sadly Minneapolis is a long way from your tweetup in Baltimore - so I should get the book as a consolation prize :D

I have threatened, on many occasion, to leave my husband and kids, move to Baltimore and angle for a job at Charm City Cakes. If you pick me to receive this book, you might be keeping a family together.

Must leave comment-must win book! Although even if I win I'm buying a second copy so my SIL and I can both have one.

I'd love to win this book for my hubby! He is absolutely glued watching Ace of Cakes or any of the cake decorating competitions on TV. So, yes, sweepstakes selector: Keith deserves the Ace of Cakes book!
